Why, Discovery Detective Group for your defense investigators? Bottom line, we work diligently for our clients to find and document the evidence needed to prove your innocence or effectively mitigate sentencing. Our senior investigators and case directors have 20 -30 years' experience as Private Investigators working on complex and high-profile criminal cases. The harder the case, the better we like to work it.
Our team is an integral part of your legal team
Our team of criminal investigators work for attorneys, clients who are represented, and pro-per clients with advisory council. Our senior criminal investigators come from legal backgrounds and training, so we understand the law and the elements that need to be proven in your case. This helps all parties of the legal team, giving you the best supported defense.
If pro-per, we are not attorneys and cannot represent you in court. We can do some paralegal work for you like looking up and providing you with case law to support your filings, if incarcerated file documents for you, type and format your motions for filing. We do not write for you; you are the attorney. We will have case strategy meetings, but you are the one that ultimately tells us what you need investigated, or what you are trying to prove so we can look for evidence.
Our job as investigators is to find evidence to support your case by interviewing, conducting backgrounds, locating witnesses, collecting physical and digital evidence, examining the evidence, interfacing with experts, surveillance...
Most of our team does not come from law enforcement backgrounds. This gives us an edge because we think outside the box compared to investigators who were only police or corrections trained. We often find problems in how law enforcement investigated your case that help in your defense, appeal, or PCR. We know the police can build a case with circumstantial evidence convicting the wrong person. That is why a good defense team, with investigators is crucial to your success in court.
95% of our mitigation cases, have received the mitigated sentence or below.
Our team has two mitigation specialists that work to reduce the length and terms for plea deals offered by the prosecution during a case and at formal sentencing with the judge. They look at all past history good and bad to use in mitigation. We additionally have a mental health nurse practitioner MHNP and recovery specialist on our team that works in conjunction with our mitigation specialists on issues of mental health and or drug addictions.
Court Experts we contract with regularly include a handwriting analyst, questioned document examiner, cell tower forensics, cell phone extraction, ballistics, metallurgist, video enhancement, proof of video tampering...
